Recently, South Korea amended the "Electrical Appliances and Household Products Safety Management Act", for the first time to include cylindrical batteries and button batteries in the scope of KC certification control. This regulation will take effect on November 15, 2020. Its scope of control includes cylindrical batteries. And button batteries, and products containing cylindrical batteries and button batteries, the batteries used must also be KC certified before they can enter the Korean market.
Implementation plan for certification control requirements:
1) Cylindrical batteries and button batteries need to obtain KC certification separately before they can be exported to South Korea.
2) When it comes to products that use cylindrical batteries and button batteries, the batteries must first obtain KC certification before the complete product can be sold through customs.
3) The specific applicable standards for cylindrical batteries and button batteries have not been promulgated, and will be updated upon further consultation.
